当前，世界百年未有之大变局加速演进，全球政治经济格局正在经历深刻重构。国际力量对比持续调整，全球治理体系面临新的挑战，科技革命和产业变革深刻改变着人类社会的发展方式。从资本主义体系性危机、地缘政治冲突与经济不确定性，到人工智能快速发展、数字技术扩张以及生态危机持续加剧，人类社会正处于新的历史转折点。面对发展赤字、治理赤字、和平赤字以及全

球信任危机等现实问题，如何理解世界历史发展的方向和人类文明未来的可能路径，已成为全球学术界共同关注的重要议题。

The world is currently undergoing profound transformations unseen in a century. Global political and economic structures are experiencing significant reconstruction, whilst shifts in international power relations and challenges to systems of global governance continue to reshape the contemporary world. From systemic crises within capitalism, geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainties, to the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence, digital technologies and intensifying ecological challenges, humanity stands at a critical historical juncture. Questions concerning development deficits, governance challenges, global trust and peaceful coexistence have increasingly become central concerns for scholars across the world.

在这一时代背景下，资本主义发展的内在矛盾呈现出新的历史形态。资本逻辑与技术力量深度结合，在推动生产力快速发展的同时，也产生了新的社会问题，包括贫富差距扩大、资本与技术垄断、劳动形态变化以及社会异化加深等现象。与此同时，全球南北发展失衡问题持续存在，不同国家对于现代化道路和社会发展模式的探索也不断深化。越来越多学者意识到，传统单一理论框架已难以充分解释当代社会复杂的发展现实。

Against this historical background, the internal contradictions of capitalism have assumed new forms. The close integration between capital and technological development has generated remarkable productive capacities whilst simultaneously producing new social tensions, including widening inequalities, concentrations of capital and technological monopolies, changing labour structures and intensified forms of social alienation. At the same time, persistent imbalances between the Global North and Global South continue to shape international development, whilst diverse pathways towards modernisation are increasingly being explored across different societies. It has become increasingly evident that traditional theoretical approaches alone may no longer provide sufficient explanations for the complexity of contemporary developments.

在新的时代条件下，马克思主义作为一种深刻的社会批判理论和实践哲学，再次展现出强大的思想生命力与现实解释力。从欧洲学界对《资本论》及马克思经典文本的当代重新阐释，到全球南方国家对自主发展道路和国际秩序重构的理论探索，马克思主义正在成为理解并反思当代世界的重要思想资源。与此同时，数字资本主义批判、生态马克思主义、文化研究以及技术哲学等跨学科研究，也不断拓展着马克思主义理论的发展边界。

Under these conditions, Marxism, as both a critical social theory and a philosophy of praxis, has once again demonstrated considerable intellectual vitality and contemporary relevance. From contemporary European interpretations of Capital and classical Marxist texts to theoretical explorations concerning independent development pathways and the restructuring of international order within the Global South, Marxism is increasingly becoming an important intellectual resource for understanding and critically reflecting upon the modern world. At the same time, interdisciplinary developments in areas such as critiques of digital capitalism, ecological Marxism, cultural studies and philosophy of technology continue to broaden the horizons of Marxist scholarship.

特别是在当代中国理论创新与实践发展过程中，马克思主义不断焕发新的时代内涵。“两个结合”进一步推动马克思主义中国化时代化的发展；“人类命运共同体”理念突破传统国际关系中的零和思维，为全球治理和文明交流提供了新的价值框架。中国式现代化的成功实践，不仅丰富了世界现代化道路的理论图景，也为马克思主义在21世纪的发展提供了鲜活的实践基础和广阔的理论空间。

Particularly significant are the developments emerging from China's contemporary theoretical innovation and practical experience. The principle of the “Two Integrations” has further advanced the adaptation and development of Marxism within contemporary Chinese contexts, whilst the concept of a “Community with a Shared Future for Humanity” moves beyond traditional zero-sum approaches in international relations and provides a new framework for global governance and intercultural dialogue. The successful practice of Chinese modernisation not only enriches broader understandings of modernisation but also offers fresh practical foundations and new possibilities for Marxist theory in the twenty-first century.

值此背景下，本届论坛将以“西方现代马克思主义研究50周年”为契机，邀请来自中国、英国、美国、德国、爱尔兰等国家的专家学者，共同搭建一个开放、多元、具有国际视野和思想深度的学术交流平台。论坛将围绕马克思主义经典文本当代阐释、数字资本主义批判、生态马克思主义新进展、中国式现代化理论逻辑、人类命运共同体理念哲学基础等前沿议题展开深入讨论。

Against this broader context, the Forum marks the 50th Anniversary of Western Modern Marxist Studies and will bring together scholars from China, the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Ireland and beyond to establish an open and intellectually engaging international platform for academic exchange. Discussions will focus on a range of themes, including contemporary interpretations of classical Marxist texts, critiques of digital capitalism, recent developments in ecological Marxism, the theoretical foundations of Chinese modernisation, and the philosophical basis of a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity.

我们期待，本次论坛不仅成为学术成果展示的平台，更成为不同理论传统、不同文明经验以及不同研究视角之间开展深层对话的重要空间。在这里，我们期待的不只是答案，更是新的问题；不仅是理论的回顾，更是思想的创造；不仅是一场学术会议，更是一场面向未来世界的深度对话。

We hope that this Forum will serve not merely as a platform for presenting academic achievements, but also as a space for meaningful dialogue between different theoretical traditions, civilisational experiences and scholarly perspectives. Here, we seek not only answers, but new questions; not only reflections upon existing theories, but the creation of new ideas; and not merely a conference, but a profound dialogue concerning the future of our world.
